Lent? What's up with that?

If you've grown up in Christian tradition, you've probably heard of Lent. It has a fairly wide range of practices depending upon what Christian church you grew up in. But stepping back from all the practices, Lent primarily remains a season of preparation for Easter. At Easter, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and without the resurrection, there really isn't Christianity.

You could say Easter is arguably the most important day in the Christian calendar. The 40 days leading up to Easter give each of us time to slow down and consider what God has done through the resurrection. The resurrection means new life both eternally and temporarily. When we take time to reflect on it, we can recognize that new life is an incredible promise and a powerful reality.
