at lakeside, kids come to learn Jesus loves them by how we love them

We get 1 hour every week to show these kids how much they are loved by their Creator. We play games, sing songs, make crafts, share stories, and more, all with the goal of teaching every kid that they are loved and valued by God (and us!). Sundays at 10am, we have a nursery for babies 0-2, a ‘Preschool Room’ for kids 3-Kindergarten, and a kid’s program for all kids in elementary school.

Lakeside|KIDS

The Lakeside|KIDS title covers every kids ministry at Lakeside, but the specific program Lakeside|KIDS is for our elementary school kids in grades 1-5. In Lakeside|KIDS, we spend our hour doing a number of activities that correlate with the day’s theme including playing active games, making creative crafts, and hearing an engaging story from God’s word. Our focus every week is to make sure each and every kid feels loved and known by God, and by the leaders on our team.

LAKESIDE|TOTS

The Lakeside|Preschool program is for all of those kids in between the nursery and entering the Lakeside|KIDS program. The kids in our preschool room join the large group for worship at the beginning of the day but spend the rest of their time in a space designed just for them. Toys galore, craft supplies, colorful books, and more await kids in the ‘Preschool Room’ at Lakeside and the leaders there are there to encourage fun/safe play among the group.

LAKESIDE|NURSERY

The Lakeside|Nursery is located directly at the bottom of the main stairs leading down to the children’s area. The room is setup for babies and children up to 2 years of age and the Adult service is streamed in live for anyone to watch who might be missing the service. Volunteers are trained and stationed in the Nursery to supervise the babies in their care but parents are welcome to stay with their kids if that is more comfortable for everyone.

KIDS // TEACHER - Become a Teacher on the Lakeside|KIDS team and bring an engaging lesson from God’s word to the kids. When scheduled to teach, you receive an outline of the day’s lesson and can build your lesson from there. We encourage teachers to put their own creative spin on the teaching materials to make the lessons interesting and fun for the kids! If teaching is new to you but sounds interesting, we have resources and experienced people to help you get started!

KIDS // ACTIVITY LEADER - We emphasize FUN in Lakeside|KIDS and the Activity Leader brings the fun to the morning program. When scheduled to lead activities, you would receive the same lesson outline/info as the teacher to help inspire your activities. After we open the program in worship, the kids move to the Game Room for a 15 minute game and close out the time together with a 15 craft activity. We have plenty of games and crafts for you to choose from and we welcome Activity Leaders to bring their own ideas as well! If you can command a room, we would love your presence guiding the kids through the games and activities in our morning program.

KIDS // GREETER - You are the first and last impression of Lakeside|KIDS! As the greeter, you are stationed at the Check-In Area for the opening and close of the Lakeside|KIDS service. Bring the energy with you as you welcome the families bringing their kids to Lakeside|KIDS and check them all in. When the morning is over, you greet the parents returning from the adult service and ensure all kids are leaving the kids area with a parent or family member. When not at the check-in station, you get to hang out with the kids for the morning and be an extra support in the room for the Teacher and Activity Leader. This role is great for getting to know the kids and families coming to Lakeside on a more personal level!

TOTS // SUPERVISOR & SUPPORT - We have a separate space dedicated to the children too young for the Lakeside|KIDS Program but too old for the Nursery and the kids in this group have a different morning than the Lakeside|KIDS. After joining with the older kids for worship, you can choose to lead the group through a craft, show an episode of Veggie Tales, read a book you enjoy, or just play with the variety of toys and games for the remaining time! When you are scheduled for this role, your priority is having fun with the kids all while making sure they leave feeling seen and loved.

Lakeside|Nursery

NURSERY // SUPERVISOR & SUPPORT - Our Nursery space is a relaxed environment for parents and babies to come and enjoy fellowship (yes, even those lil babies need fellowship!). To serve in the nursery, you just need to love babies and bring a warm, welcoming presence with you. At times you will be holding or attending to babies, other times you will be playing the role of ‘host’ to the moms bringing newborns or visiting our church. If that sounds like a fit for you, we would love to have you on our team!
